Music Lessons

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2004, I have dedicated my career to music education, sharing my passion and expertise with students of all ages. For the past decade, I have specialized in teaching piano and ukulele to preschoolers, nurturing their musical talents from a young age. Since 2019, my teaching repertoire has expanded to include piano, ukulele, vocal, guitar, and harp instruction for a diverse age group, ranging from young children to seniors. My extensive experience and commitment to fostering musical growth in my students have equipped me with the skills to provide high-quality, engaging, and effective music education for all.

Musical experiences in early childhood have been shown to significantly accelerate brain development, particularly in crucial areas such as language acquisition, reading skills, and mathematical learning. These formative years are pivotal for laying the foundation of a child’s future academic and cognitive success. Music not only boosts intellectual capabilities but also plays a vital role in the development of social-emotional skills and overall literacy. Engaging with music helps children express themselves, interact with others, and develop empathy and communication skills.

SmartStart™, an early childhood music education program developed by The Royal Conservatory under the umbrella of The Marilyn Thomson Early Childhood Education Centre, is designed to ensure every Canadian child benefits from the rich cognitive and developmental advantages of music education from the earliest possible age. SmartStart is dedicated to fostering these developmental benefits, providing children with a strong start in life through the power of music. Through this program, we aim to nurture a generation of children who are not only academically proficient but also emotionally resilient and socially adept.

Ukulele/Piano for Preschoolers

Age: 3 – 5 years years
Sessions: September – December | January – March | April – June
Locations: Richmond, Kerrisdale, UBC

In addition to our comprehensive early childhood music education program, we are excited to offer specialized courses: Ukulele for Preschoolers and Piano for Preschoolers. These engaging, hands-on classes are tailored specifically for young children, providing an introduction to the joys of playing an instrument. Learning the ukulele and piano at an early age not only enhances fine motor skills but also strengthens hand-eye coordination and fosters a deep appreciation for music.

We create a nurturing and fun environment where preschoolers can explore their musical talents, build self-confidence, and develop a lifelong love for music. These programs are designed to be both educational and enjoyable, ensuring that each child experiences the many benefits of early musical instruction while having fun.
